Celebrating Jena Carlsen — A Champion of Female Hockey at NOMHA

We’re incredibly proud to recognize the unwavering dedication and impact of Jena Carlsen, our Female Director — a true leader, mentor, and advocate for girls in sport.

Born and raised in Salmon Arm, Jena grew up playing ringette before transitioning to female hockey — an experience that sparked a lifelong love for the game and the empowerment that comes from being part of a strong, supportive team.

Now a proud hockey mom to two daughters in U11 and U13 integrated hockey at NOMHA, Jena brings that same passion and energy into everything she does for our association. Over the past five years, she’s worn many hats: Female Director, Coach, and now Registrar, and has been instrumental in shaping the future of female hockey in our region.

Jena is more than a volunteer, she’s a driving force behind positive change. Her leadership has opened doors for young female athletes, built more inclusive programming, and created a space where girls can grow, thrive, and fall in love with the game.

Her vision? To see female hockey flourish in our community, with the ultimate goal of launching NOMHA’s first all-female house team in many years. With Jena at the helm, that dream is well within reach.

Jena Carlsen is a cornerstone of North Okanagan Minor Hockey and a role model in our community. Her commitment, heart, and drive continue to inspire players, parents, and fellow volunteers alike.

Thank you, Jena, for everything you do. Let’s keep building the future of female hockey!
