Volunteers

NOMHA is a volunteer-run organization. We rely on the time and energy of dedicated parents, guardians, and community members to keep our programs running smoothly, both at the association level and within each individual team.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors oversees the operations of NOMHA, including registration, scheduling, tournaments, coaching, and more. Board roles are filled by elected volunteers who guide the overall direction of the association.

Team Volunteers

Each team depends on parent volunteers to function during the season. The following roles are usually needed for every team:

If you’d like to help out, you can indicate your preferred volunteer role when you register in May-June. You can also talk to your team’s Head Coach in September to see where help is needed.

Interested in helping on the ice?

NOMHA welcomes and encourages on-ice helpers! Here are some of the rules for on-ice helpers in minor hockey:

  • All on-ice helpers must be registered with BC Hockey/Hockey Canada. If someone isn’t already registered, they need to be added in the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) as a “volunteer” on the team roster.
  • Helpers who are 16 years or older must complete the Respect in Sport program.
  • A current Criminal Record Check using NOMHA’s Access Code is required for all on-ice helpers.

Our registrar, Jena Carlsen, can help with certifications and requirements (such as Criminal Record Checks) for the upcoming season. Contact Jena at register@nomha.com.
