It’s almost the beginning of what should be a very interesting 2020-21 Hockey Season.
You will find the weekday portion of the schedule for the start of season, by clicking the Regular Practice Schedule button on the home page. Weekend ice will also be provided to teams for further practices, and I am working to put teams in slots and will have that up and out to you in the next few days.
This Weekly practice schedule begins Monday September 21st, 2020. Please note that it is subject to change at any time, so we ask that you please check in at nomha.com on a weekly basis to ensure you are aware of any updates.
This season will not be like any other season NOMHA has hosted in the past. COVID-19 procedures have been put in place by not only the Federal and Provincial Governments, but also by ViaSport and BC Hockey; and then the Facilities themselves have to have approved plans that allow for the distance measures and group limits put into place by the higher ups.
Here is what we can confirm so far:
There will be waivers to sign before even arriving for first practice, and then COVID checklists to send in to your team before every practice. There will be limits and tracking of not only the people on ice but in the building itself. Players will enter and leave the building geared up in everything but skates, helmets and gloves. And most importantly Parents and Players will have to abide by all procedures and rules set out by the facilities, and closely monitor the health of their families. Being able to continue with our Programs this Fall and Winter depends on that. The protocols continue to be edited and released to us, and as soon as we have the most up to date information from our Facility, we will have more information to send out.
NorVal Arena in Armstrong has had to replace a vital piece of equipment in order to put in their ice this season. They are hopeful to have it in by the end of October but as all new installations go anywhere, that date is fluid at this time. Enderby has been extremely generous to NOMHA in allowing us to reserve significant prime time ice, so you can be thankful to them for not having 6 am practices this season while Armstrong is down! : ) The practice schedule will look different than in previous years with slightly more limited ice and new protocols to follow, but we are hopeful for a great season start as our excited kids get to hit the ice!
